Jason Greenawalt, CEO (00:03): “We have a pretty simple business model here. We’re focused on getting great employees on our team and giving them the freedom to cut loose and deliver great results for our customers. And we think the better job we do at taking care of our workforce, the better job they’re gonna do at taking care of our customers and ultimately our community.”
Andrea Zito, Chief Human Capital Officer (00:20): “Giving back to our local communities where our employees live and work is very important to us here at Nakupuna, especially giving back to the Native Hawaiian community that is supported through the Nakupuna Foundation.”
Lindsay Ah Loo, Executive Director (00:30): “The Nakupuna Foundation is a Native Hawaiian Organization with a mission to economically uplift the Native Hawaiian community through culturally centered career and educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.”
Suzanne McDonald, President (00:44): “When new employees come to Nakupuna and start working with us, we want them to feel like they belong here. We want them to understand how they fit in with our mission and our vision, and how what they do every day makes an impact for the company and for our Native Hawaiian community.”
Jason Greenawalt (01:01): “I think we have a great culture around having fun and doing exceptional work, and we’ve built an outstanding benefits program here that is targeted to the needs of our employees.”
Ann Stitzel, Project Manager (01:11): “In addition to the 401k program, they also have a financial advisor that comes on site once or twice a year, and you have the opportunity to consult with him about, um, any financial questions or just understanding the retirement program a little bit better.”
‘Auli’i Fisher, Analyst (01:25): “I’ve actually taken advantage of the continuing education benefit here since I started, and, uh, the company’s actually supporting me as I go back to get my MBA this fall.”
Jason Greenawalt (01:36): “We’re a dispersed company with employees in 40 states, offices in Honolulu, Denver, Charleston, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and right here in Arlington, Virginia.”
Andrea Zito (01:46): “We plan activities outside of the office for our employees on a regular basis. Anything from baseball games to happy hours, to company picnics, holiday parties, anything where our employees can get together to socialize outside of the office is a positive in our eyes.”
Bryon Robinson, Project Manager (02:01): “It’s always just a good time because your coworkers are the people that you see day in and day out all the time, and it’s nice to be able to call them friends.”
Ann Stitzel (02:10): “I love that Nakupuna has such a social impact focus. Um, in addition to the Native Hawaiian community, there’s tons of opportunities to volunteer locally depending on the office.”
Mike Fogle, President (02:21): “Even though we’re not really a scrappy startup anymore, we want people to feel like that’s the kind of energy we have here and that they can contribute across a wide range of their interests.”
Suzanne McDonald (02:30): “Nakupuna hires people with a broad spectrum of skills from project managers and consultants to engineers, software developers, geologists, inventory specialists, and field technicians.”
Bryon Robinson, Project Manager (02:42): “I lucked out into Nakupuna just being a really fantastic, really supportive place where I felt like I got to grow, and I was given all the tools I needed to succeed. Whenever there’s an opportunity that I think would fit someone that I know, I’ll send it over to them because this really is an excellent place to work. And I’ve been here for seven, probably, almost eight years now, and I’ve just had a great time.”
Mike Fogle (03:06): “If you’re interested in working with highly skilled teams, solving the government’s hardest challenges, and giving back to the Native Hawaiian community, Nakupuna is the place for you.”
